how hurricanes begin

Hurricanes begin over the atlantic and pacific ocean and start as a tropical storms with the warm moist water. As some of the water rises it evaporates and alots of it heats up in the atmosphere. The winds in the north start to trun counter clock wise and in the south it truns clock wise and make what is called the eye. And if the water stays at 79F or higher and still gets moist air then the hurricanes can grow and increase its rate. The speeds of a hurricane can reach up to 74 to 200 miles per hour. As some of the water gets over the land or cool water it starts to lose its speed.

  1. Hurricanes can destroy anything in there path and last for days. They are basically tornadoes in water but more destructive. They can cover large areas of land in a short amount of time.
